Default what is normal for a jiffy stand

I have a 00 883 hugger that I have put taller rear shocks and taller tires on
now the bike leans way over when on the side stand...how do I figure out what size longer jiffy stand to put on it???..I figure an inch or 2 longer wound be good, but don't know what normal is, as the bikes stand is now the shorter one that was used on the huggers.. do I just measure it add 2 inches and buy one by length..it seems to me that they advertise jiffy stands as 1 inch or 2 inch longer than stock and I am not sure of what stock is...

Just get a non Hugger Sportster jiffy from the same year. I had a simular problem as you. Guy I bought mine from lowered the crap out of it and put a Hugger jiffy on it. When I put 12.5" shocks back on it and raised the front I had to replace the jiffy stand. The original stand worked great. I found mine on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_saca...&_sop=7&_frs=1
Good luck.

You just need the standard Sportster Jiffy stand 50006-89. Aren't you going a bit down hill in the front now? Hugger had shorter tubes and springs in the front to lower the front also.

Set it on a 2x6 (or 4x6) and take the strain off it until you get a new, regular length stand. How much taller did you go, 1" should not be an issue. More perhaps.

it is taller in the rear when it on the side stand, but when I sit on the seat it levels the bike out to about where it was stock, except the whole bike is a little higher because of the taller tires..And something I did not mention because it was not revelent to the matter at hand is the bike is even taller now because I installed a coil spring seat, but I am tall so reaching the ground is not an issue for me...

Default stand length

When I added length to my XL Custom shocks, it leaned over too far as you described. What I did, was cut out a piece of wood, and attach it to the bottom of the existing stand. I drilled two holes in it for mounting purposes. Plus, it is slightly larger than stock, so it is less likely to sink-in to softer ground.

I've heard of riders welding a thick nut or extra metal to the bottom of a kick stand to lengthen it.

@mrfikser, i have a lowered 2008 sportster 1200xl and the kickstand is too long, my bike stands almost upright. I've been looking on ebay and the classifieds here for a hugger or dyna low kickstand. Maybe we should consider trading?? Pm me if you are interested.
