We spent 2+ weeks in the Tombstone area last winter. We should be leaving the Black Hills Monday. We plan on going to Las Cruces first for a week or so then to Deming. We were told Palomas Mexico is a safe place to go visit for a day. You talked me out of doing 191 so we will go to Tucson. I'll stay in touch when I can or where WiFi will work with the lap top. Looking at the map it should be warm in Sells. Thanks for the info and I look forward to doing a ride with you. Rick
Yeah, good luck with that.....

I work the reservation daily on a dirtbike and I can tell you the weather is excellent in Sells after 9AM. If you come down this way, watch for the cattle on State Route 86. There is a pretty neat museum just south of Sells on Indian Route 19 in Topawa. It is open to the public. The ride to Ajo is also nice or you can turn onto Indian Route 34 at about milepost 64(more or less) and take it north towards 15 and onto Casa Grande.

We stayed at Tombstone Territories RV Park which is about 10 miles SE of Tombstone and close to Fairbank.. We rode to Chiricahua State park, had a great malt in Wilcox across from the train station. I had the 1,000 miler done on the new bike at Tuscon. We rode to Douglas, Bisbee, Sierra Vista, Green valley to Nogales and #82 back to Tombstone. #83 was fun with some good curves. One of the best roads I found goes from Tombstone to Sierra Vista and is not shown in the HOG touring handbook. Thanks for all the info and hope I can meet some or all of you. Rick

what about central az? there's a pretty good loop from phx-wickenberg-kirkland(bar)-skull valley-prescott-jerome(spirit room)-camp verde(casino)-payson(tittie bar in star valley)-fountain hills(casino)-back to phx.
you can get to kirkland a couple different ways. i like 93 north of wickenberg to 97/96. i rode it for the first time earlier this year. it may be my favorite. i need to ride it a couple more times to confirm. you can also take 89 through congress-yarnell-etc.
if there's snow on the east side of the loop(strawberry-pine-payson) you can just blast down i-17 at camp verde back to phx and it's still a good ride.

There are a lot of good day rides out of the Phoenix area, many are weather dependent due to altitude changes - but that's what makes them good rides.
On days when the Phoenix area was 115 degrees, we've ridden the upper part of the 191 in the mid 70's.
Let us know when you get here and we'll help you figure something out.

Arriving in Tucson Thursday
We will arrive in a Tucson RV park Thursday. We don't have a working cell phone since they don't work where we live in WY. We saw the cactus parks east and west of town a couple years ago. Any ride sugestions? We plan to be there for a week. If any one is going on a ride can we follow? Rick from the frozen north
