Default Desert night crawlers?

I'm planning a trip down to Monument Valley in late April to early May. I may camp out if the weather's suitable, but not to sure what kinda critters you got down your way. If I sleep on the ground will I wake up with additional friends in my sleeping bag? Mostly concerned with anything that may be venomous. What precautions if any do you take? Thx.

I've not been to Monument Valley, but our desert has scorpions, rattlesnakes, recluse spiders, black widows. I wouldn't just want a sleeping bag on the ground. I'd at least want a closed tent with a built in floor. And shake out your shoes before you put them back on!!
