Default Phoenix area riding

Coming down to Phoenix from the Denver CO area, sick of the snow and cold. Gonna be there for 5 days and was looking for some advice on some good roads to check out down there. Will be there from late Monday (2-2-09) thru Friday.

Head to Wickenburg and take Vulture Mine Rd to Tonopah.

Joe can give you the actual roads. Also, check out our old ride threads. Lots of good ride plans already put together, and you can see what the mileages are.

Too bad you won't be here for a weekend (I work mon-fri days) maybe we can hook up for a late afternoon ride. What area are you staying in?

I'm free each morning until about 1 pm (work nights). PM me if you want to get together.

There are a number of good day rides, even for this time of year.

US 60 through Superior to Globe, then take 188 to Roosevelt Lake. Stop by Jake's Corner about 3 miles before the Bee Line Highway (87), then return to Phoenix on 87.

US 60 to Idaho Road, north to the the Apache Trail through Canyon Lake to Tortilla Flat. Return the same way.

Phoenix to Wickenburg, then Vulture Mine Road to Wickenburg Road to Tonopah. Old US 80 to Gila Bend to Maricopa and back to Phoenix on Maricopa Road.

For an ovenight trip, Tucson, Tombstone and Bisbee.

Try to stay off the interstates, lots of trucks, traffic and construction.

Thanks for the info, I'll be staying between Phoenix and Casa Grande, not sure of the exact location, my Dad stays down there in the winter but moves around to follow the trap/skeet shooting. If I can come up with internet access while I'm down there, I'll try to get in touch with one of y'all. I talked with Buddy Stubbs HD, they're gonna let me unload my bike there w/ some hydraulic deal they have, seemed like good guys. Looks like the weather is supposed to be pretty nice too.... can't wait.
