Cool Questions for those living in & around Smith County, Texas...

(Already posted on the main forum...)

It's cold & wet here in Oregon. We want to move to "Warm-Land". What we've found so far that fits what we want seems to be in Tyler, Texas.

Can you who live there, or near there, tell me about the area?

We already know something about the climate, housing availability, job market, and so forth, but what about the overall terrain? Are there mountains nearby? Did you get much from recent hurricanes? What M/C's are in the area?

Basically, anything you can pass on would really be very helpful.

Thanking y'all in advance...

Not many mountains in Texas. You have to go to West Texas to the Big Bend area to get mountains. But the Hill Country, now thats a different story. Next best thing to mountains. All around the Leakey area, biker frienly and lots of twisties. I live just north of Houston and go to the Hill Country a couple of time a yr.About a 4 1/2 boring ride from here, then pure fun.

Tyler used to be dry. I don't know if that's changed. I don't drink now so you're on your own finding a bootlegger.
