Sure am glad I moved from Baytown to austin around 3 mos. ago.however my ex-wife and son still live in Baytown and decided to ride the storm out in a house that is only 4' above sea level and less than a mile from trinity bay (Smart huh?)

Hope they come through OK. I'm praying for them.
We deal with storm surge here all the time and it can be extremely dangerous. I don't understand folks staying in the path of this monster. They won't have power or communications for days, maybe weeks. No power, no cooking, no A/C. Hot, wet, can't drive anywhere, steets will be covered with trees, debris, millions of roofing nails. Wade in the water and you can get ipetigo from all the sewage that comes up from septic tanks, etc. Not to mention ant bites. I still have the scabs from about 2 dozen fire ant bites from wading in 12" of water from Gustav and it hit hundreds of miles from us. (I'm a slow learner, obviously)
My brother in law in Houston is riding it out. I guess they've upped the predictions of what will hit here in the Dallas area, but I can't imagine it being "that" bad up here. Might spoil riding the motorcycle this weekend, though.
i hope everyone stays safe and dry.i got to ride my bike in it a little while taking it to a safe place to store it...people were lookin' at me like i done lost my mind
