I told him I thought the parties involved would think otherwise when they lost all that business revenue and taxes would go up for locals. He said otherwise and said he had the backing of the forementioned people. He was very pointed in the message that rally goers were not welcome and defended the passing of all the new rules targeting motorcycles as an effort to keep them away.

That was good enough for me.
I lived in Myrtle Beach from 2005-2010 so I was there for all of this. The City of Myrtle Beach didn't want the rallies, so that made up foolish rules that were over turned by the courts. The bike rallies never stopped. They have just been moved a few miles outside the city limits.

I'm sure if anyone emailed a member of the City of Myrtle Beach government they would give a similar reply saying there is no rally, but the truth is there is, and it isn't in their city.

I rode down last year and had a blast, didn't spend any time in the Myrtle Beach City limits. My room's booked for this year and I plan on having a another great bike week.

Don't rely on what some clown who works for the city tells you!

We plan on going as it will be our first. Got a room resv'd. I'm just waiting to hear the outcome of the Horry Co. council meeting 2 / 28. There is an issue with MB Harley Davidson messing with the dates, vendor permits, etc. It's supposed to be centered in Murrell's Inlet so we don't have to bother with the city of MB. I just don't want to be there if they change the dates as it will clash with ABBW which will be in North Myrtle Beach... which will spill into the south side which will ... you know where this is going ...
info will be in the MyrtleBeachSunNews.com

Planning on going more for the ride this year than anything, leaving Erie,Pa and riding the Blue Ridge Parkway to Ashville,Nc. Then off to MB for a few days. I like the area and they will not stop me from coming, and I will be staying in North Myrtle Beach where they welcome bikers.

We're just going to ride down for the last weekend. I was stationed at MBAFB back in the 1980s and my only transportation was a motorcycle. So, I enjoyed the rallies. I haven't been back for many years. I'm sort of looking forward to it. I say sort of because I have heard so much negative stuff in the last few years. I don't need any more hassles in my life.

Any opinions on which is best, North MB or Murrell's Inlet?

Just remember, the last weekend will be mixed with Atlantic Bike week. I just don't see us Harley riders mixing well with the Atlantic Bike Week group. I will be heading to DC for Rolling Thunder and avoid MB and anything to do with it mixed in with all the crotch rockets raising hell. Even us that live here know never to do MB on Memorial Weekend cause of Atlantic Bike Week. Good luck and safe travels.
