RE: Sunday Dec. 3rd, Ride with ******
Rusty;
I hope your Sunday ride went well my friend?
I needed to go for a ride solo Sunday as the group rides tend
to slow the pace a little much for my style of riding.
I some how ended up in Erwin TN. I started by going up 9 north
and have no idea how I got to TN.??????? LOL" You know me
Mr. I get lost in a phone booth"
I ended up at about 500 miles for the day and had a great time.
Somewhere I saw a house built in the side of a rock cliff, this thing
blew me away, the people must have the entrance at the top of
the rock wall because there was no way into this house with out
a helicopter. That is the coolest house I've ever seen. I marked
it on my GPS so I can take Marcia up to see it after her busy season
is over!
I rode lots of nice roads and saw some real cool places!
Now if I could just remember where the heck I was? .. LOL"
OH" well I'll do it again some day by mistake again, I always
seem to stumble back on to some place I've been before!!! LOL"

Shoulda had that GPS on Track Mode!
Yea group rides tend to slow the pace, especially when I am in the group, miles don't really matter to me on these week-end things, socializing and seeing different locals is part of the fun for me. I could stop and "look" at something every 25 miles! hahahahahahahahhaha

I know what ya mean Rusty, I love to stop to check things out
also, which I do alot. When your alone the stops can a little
quicker there for I get to see more in the same amount of time
which means more miles a day with more stuff seen in a day,
if ya know what I mean?? LOL" I'm a poet and don't know it! LOL"
To me 4 to 500 miles is a light day and I get to see alot at that pace
my buddy out of Atlanta (Don) we ride 4 to 600 miles a day and
we do alot of stopping to take pictures, he likes to wear his camera
out (LOL) he also likes to do lunch and sometimes dinner while
were out for a day ride. He's been riding his whole life, he's 60 years
old and never owned a car, we have much the same idea of what
we like in day rides. We have rode thousands of miles together, the
wife loves riding with Don for day rides also, she likes the pace and
lunchs which she normally doesn't get on my ride days with her. I
tend to do cracks on stops like you do.
Don't get me wrong here, I like your idea of a day ride also, i just
can't do it on a regular basis every ride. I'm sure we'll do plenty
more rides together my friend as I sure do enjoy your company.
One day maybe we'll get you out on a ride to try my style of day
riding?
See Ya soon Buddy!

Now I'm just outright envious ;-)
All these Carolina rides - I'm still looking at getting a week out of Feb to head up that way.
It'd be good if it is back to back with that week you and Marcia may be able to take off Chuck. That way we can ride a bit down here and then check out some of your neck of the woods while I'm visiting the mom and her husband outside of Charolette (sp).
And guys - don't let Chuck fool you about just being all about the miles.. He stops to enjoy the sights, he just breathes them all in at one time, then is off again.
I did see one of the coolest things I've seen in a while riding with Chuck. We were coming up A1A just north of Flagler County (South of Jacksonville Florida along the coastline) and crossing this bridge - to the right there had to have been 15-20 (maybe more) people out para-surfing. You know the mini parachutes rigged up to surfboards. Man those people were catching some good choppy waves to hop around on.
Anyhow, he's riding in front - he points then pulls over and gets his camera out faster than I could come to a stop and put the bike in neutral..
Then he was back on his ride gone again! How'd that picture turn out by the way?? If the salt air didn't get to the lens that should have been an excellent pic!
I felt bad - I slowed him down greatly that day LOL but had a ton of fun!
