OBX is not a place that you should have to worry about anything. Most places will be super biker friendly and there aren't that many chain hotels.

I'm going down Thursday afternoon. I found a 4br. house to rent for less per night than any hotel that was still available. Planning to come back Sunday but right now, 60% chance of scattered T-storms in the forecast that day. Also, even though I live less than 2 hours away, temps down there are going to be 10 or more degrees cooler than it will be at my house. Still in the 60's which is okay for this time of year. But in the 80's or darn near close at home for me.

Leaving Thursday morning for OBX this will be our 4th year. I just like the area for all the sights to see and most of the time something is going on somewhere......

If you are going down this week, be sure to also ride out to Grandy, NC (north of Kitty Hawk and OBX HD) to a place called Barry's Walnut Island - it's a restaurant/lodge and they have their own bike week they claim is the original OBX bike week. They always have food, vendors, and music right there on-site. Year before last they had biker rodeo events over at the Grave Digger shop just down the road (another cool place to checkout if you like monster trucks) and they were a lot of fun to watch and probably to participate in, though I did not. Looks like they may now be having those on-site at Barry's as well.

Well for OBX bike week a few vendors started arriving in the area yesterday,
most all places welcome tourists and visitors, The area thrives on the tourist dollar and the winter has been slow. Barry's Walnut Island resturant/lounge and motel is the place on the mainland. GraveDigger has Truck Mud races this weekend scheduled. The Harley dealer has vendors and things ongoing. Vendors and events are scheduled in varrying places
Vertigo Tatoo has a Bike show scheduled with vendors also, good riding the weather has been a little cooler with another warm up the end of this week, Possibly some rain on Tues evening late and Wed. Local saying here is wait 5 minutes and the weather will change
very unpredictable,
carl

Yeh, that's the only thing about having a bike event around here this time of year. It could be in the 50's or the 80's and it could be one one day and the next day the other. I'd really love to see this get moved to at least mid to late May but then you are competing with Myrtle Beach. This is a fun event but pretty different from Myrtle Beach. I actually like it better. It rained last night and still this morning here so it probably did or is raining over there as well but tomorrow and friday look to be very nice and saturday shouldn't be bad either. Sunday could be nasty based on the forecast.

Well, the weather was beautiful Thurs. & Friday. Today (Sat.) has been a little chilly with some occasional sprinkle showers here & there. Pulling out in the morning for the trip home. Racked up right at 500 miles so far since leaving home.

Yea Saturday didn't turn out to be a big washout like I expected. It was a nice ride down there from Virginia, albeit a little chilly but I'll take that over getting soaked.

It was good. Seemed to be a really good turnout. I didn't really like how they moved all the vendors to the bypass and none on the beach road anymore. Not sure what the reason for that was but maybe they had no control over it. Other than a busted fork seal for me, it was a great time.
