Rather go to Thunder Beach down in Panama City Beach, fun rally and it is spread out across the area and they actually want you there. Won't even go back to MB to golf anymore! Hate it for the promoters though, such tradition shouldn't have to suffer cause of a bunch of old blue hairs that don't realize how much money it brings in for the area.

We have been going down to Myrtle since 2002. Since Myrtle Beach started giving the bikers a rough time, we will not spend a dime in Myrtle Beach proper. We have started staying in Surf Side or North Myrtle Beach. We will probably take the bike down for a couple of days. Last year was not nearly as good as previous years, but there is still a lot to do.

I was there last year and had a blast. Never even went into MB proper. Took the bypass to and from Surfside and North Myrtle to avoid the city. Still plenty going on and worth the trip. I do feel for the biker friendly business owners inside of MB that will no doubt take another hit this year due to the helmet/loud pipes/parking/vendor laws, but I just can't justify riding through a place that is clearly trying to rewrite laws to deter certiain AMERICAN CITIZENS from visiting the area. Anyway, (now that off my soapbox) yes I will be riding down again this year and I look forward to all that the riding and fun in the sun the area has to offer.

I was at a dealer in Columbia, SC recently and I didn't see one mention of MBBW. I did however see several posters advertising New Bern, NC rally.
I'd peruse www.myrtlebeachbikeweek.com for more info if you're really interested in it. I checked it a few days ago and they posted they are not producing any official event t-shirts this year. Not that I care but most of the time you go to get a t-shirt (to a point). Is that a sign? Could be.

Free or not...I'd steer clear of MB proper. I'm sure you can find plenty of good deals on places to stay elsewhere. Surfside is pretty nice and plenty going on down there. Suck Bang Blow...The Beaver Bar...just to name a few.
