Default move to Charlotte

I just got a new job and I'll be moving to Charlotte next spring after 14 years in Cincinnati. Right now I'm commuting from Cincinnati to Chicago each week. I'm looking out my 14th floor window down onto Soldier Field. It's cold, rainy, and windy. I can't wait to get to North Carolina. I'm so excited I went out and bought a new scarlet red street glide last weekend. This weekend I need to pick it up (traded in my Road King Classic) bring it home, put the cover on it, and hope the wife doesn't notice it til spring when I uncover it in my Charlotte garage. I'll just tell her the movers must have made a mistake.

I don't care for the city of Charlotte that much, but it is a good location to be in...Only a couple of hours to the beach or a couple of hours to the mountains.

Don't get down to Charlotte much but like he said a couple of hours and the Mountains or the Ocean. I'm 90 minutes north of Charlotte at the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Let us know when you get here. Great place, usually great weather. It's a little more than 2 hrs to the beach and the mountains but not much.
Lot's of Riders, some good Harley shops and almost year round riding.

Very reasonable.... especially in these times.
Google Charlotte real estate compared to other same-sized Southeastern cities & see what you find.
I live in the Mint Hill area, just southeast of Charlotte, but still in Mecklenburg Co.
You can get a nice home here, around 2000 sq. feet, for maybe 200K or less, depending on lot size, neighborhood, etc.
20 minutes from uptown Charlotte too.
I'd see where I was gonna be working first, (if possible) and house hunt near it. Commuting is just as bad as most cities this size.

I like the mountains and my wife likes the beaches. That's why we thought Charlotte would be a good in between. My son just started school at the College of Charleston to we'll be close to him. My other son goes to school in Gettysburg, another great place to ride.

Let us know when you get here. Lots of good riding and plenty of "bike night" locations in the Spring and Summer.
