RE: Blue Ridge Parkway
A must ride for a motorcyclist. Have rode all of it in parts. Take your time if you are gonna do the whole thing. Plan for pics at overlooks, gas, food, lodge/camp. Generally 45 mph, 4 days required to really enjoy it. Expect any kind of weather. Fall season can be georgeous with the colorful leaves. Best section for me is south of Asheville to Cherokee, N.C. Also remember that there are a ton of tourists looking at everything but the road (watch where you are going). My .02.

I am on the Parkway at least two or three times a month. There are some closures right now. They are scheduled to re-open in late April. Do a Google search on Blue Ridge Parkway and there are a couple of sites that show any areas closed. The ride is great. The speed limit is 45 and the Park Police run radar on a regular basis. Take your time and enjoy the ride.

I used to ride it all the time when I lived a little closer. Get in touch with one of the Park Service offices and get their maps. They show all the exits and a lot of the facilities. One thing I found was that I never traveled as fast as I thought I would. There was just too much stuff to see! Go for it...I think you'll like it.

I ride it about 2 or 3 times a year. A must ride on a 'scooter. I think the best part is from Cherokee to Ashville. At the top of Mt. Pisgah, about 60 miles or so from Cherokee, just before Ashville, there's some motels and a resturant that serves really good food, although a little pricey, but great views. A good place to have lunch.
