Default Jersey bike coming to Florida

A buddy and I are thinking of bringing the bikes down to Florida for a week in mid Feb '09. Can you guys point out some points of interest that we may want to hit. I know towards the end of our week we will be in the Orlando area. Also how's the weather that time of year. Being that it will be in the high 20's - low 30's here, I can only think that Florida's riding weather should be much better. Thanks

Gonna be hit and miss on the weather, Could be in the 80s or below freezing. The old saying goes if you don't like the weather in Flordia wait a couple of hours and it'll change. A better bet is the Keys, pretty sure to get decent weather in Feb. (not freezing anyway). as far as things to see there are too many to list, go by a welcome center they have about ten thousand brocures. If you havent been to Key West that might be a good choice.

Contact the tourist boards and have a vacation pack of info sent to you to see what you like . Before you leave do ask about the areas of interest. I was born there and lived there for 42 years and still miss riden in some areas. Bring good rain and cold weather gear. 30's with 95+% mosture sure can hurt. Review some of the treads about floirda in this section for more todo's.

It'll be cold here in February almost guarnateed above say Jupiter. Below that still a good chance on being cold. Orlando will be cold. Low of 30s 40s high of 50s. No snow though. You may laugh that I consider 50s cold but I'm from Jersey. Our 50s are like your 30s for some reason.

the weather will be 100 times better than NJ- guaranteed!
It may get cold, 30-40 at night by noon it could be 70
If your worried about the weather, stay home and enjoy NJ.

There's not 5 days all year that I couldn't ride I doubt you would find them all in a row in Feb

As far as places to go, anywhere is great.
You could take A1A from Jax to Key West
passing through Daytona and Cocoa Beach -Kennedy Space Center,
Miami clubs, Key West Bars, Back up throught the Everglades up the center of the state to Orlando or over to the west coast, Tampa -Ybor City, Tarpon Springs sponge docks, Ocala National Forrest, Don Garlits drag racing museum.
Panhandle, Panama City.
Plenty of lakes, springs, and sights to see and enjoy.
planty of bike friendly bars along the way .
Stop in and ask a local where some good rides are or places to see.

There's no way your going to get to see much in 1 week anyway, just pick a direction and let the road take you where it goes.
Orlando is pretty central and you can stay there and take day rides to plenty of places.

enjoy

kickstart pan You are spot on about not enough time . maybe you could hit the lower 1/3 in a week . A week will only let you find something to pull you back.

I'm also from Jersey and I keep my bike in the Tampa area during the winter. Whatever the temps are in Jersey they will be at least 40 degrees warmer in Flordia and that means you can ride whenever you like. We go over to Daytona in Feb so if you're around maybe we can get together for a ride.
