I talked with the ABATE rep here at the Easyriders show a couple of weeks ago. I was shocked to learn from him about several issues I was completly un-aware of concerning motorcycle legislation, insurance, medical liability, and how Harley is actually supporting the EPA's efforts to get more governmental control over what you can and cannot do to your bike on the aftermarket.

I'm going to try and make there next meeting here in Memphis this month.

ABATE is a great organization(been a member since 1987). My chapter has over 1300 members. You will find not only issues concerning your rights as a biker but also some great fellowship. The people are really good and know how to have a good time. You can put into as much or little as you want. Great for getting involved in local rides and community runs, get togethers as well the knowledge base of information on motorcycling from engines to safety. Give it a try, you will more than likely enjoy it and sign up ($20.00 bucks a year) and that gets you a local newsletter plus a state newsletter that lets you know what is going on in the government mind.
Good luck,
Woody

Thanks for your input. Here's the link to the Charlotte Chapter. http://charlottecba.org/ I spoke to a rep the last night. It sounds like a good time. I think I'll check out there next meeting.

It would seem to make sense that Harley would support tighter regs. What with all the custom compition they have now.
