I forgot about Port Gibson. It is the only town Grant did not burn on his march to Vicksburg. He said it was too beautiful to burn. If you are into history and the blues, you will be in heaven on the whole trip.

 

If they had time, they could ride from Vicksburg to Natchez on Highway 61 and
then back from Natchez to Port Gibson on the Natchez Trace.

I have ridden the trace for so many years, I get bored real quick. I am glad they finally open the leg that was missing. I can jump on at Raymond and ride north of Jackson and not have to mess with the interstate.

 

I'll definitely have to check out Port Gibson as I love old houses. Madison, GA is a similar town that Sherman didn't burn on his way to Savannah. It will also give us a chance to ride the Natchez Trace.
