Have we made a mistake?
Hi,
we are a German couple, which loves to spend the holidays in your beautiful country.
I rememberan awesome biketrip through the Southern Rockies from Denver to Albuquerque and another one during the Indian Summer from DC to Atlanta on the Blue Ridge with rented E-Glides.
But this year we decided to travel along the Gulf Coast from Key West to New Orleans.
We want to spend some nights on the state park - campgrounds, but we don`t want to sleep in a tent. So, we`ve booked a RV.
Now we are not sure, if we have made a mistake going without a bike.
Well, I know it`s actually a silly question, but what are your opinions?

Your route is made for a bike, cabins and motels are plentifull but it's best to reserve atleast a day ahead. There are historical sites practically every few miles(study up) and I10 will take you through the middle of it all. Spring is great, summer can be a bit steamy, but on a bike it is quite comfortable. Whichever way you go it should be a wonderfull trip. Good Luck to you!

Some but not all dealershipshops have rentals.You can surf the HD web site and it will have web sites to the dealers in the areas you are going to and you can pre-book a rental in advance or wait and see when you get there.You will need about 1-3000$ on a credit card which they use as a security deposit and you get it back when and if you bring the bike back in the same condition you took it.

If you love to ride motorcycles, ride a motorcycle"
If you love driving in an RV,drive an RV"
Why? Would you or your wife care about anyone
elses opinion on what you want to do on your
vacation.
Back in 1969/70/71..... my wife and I sold every
thing we owned and took off on our Chopper for 17
months (78,000 miles) till we ran out of money and
started our new life over again wheremoney ran out.
Everyone we knew thought we were making a very
big,very stupid mistake. We did not give a $h!t what
anyone else's opinion was period. We loved to ride
and to this day there are no memories that even come
close to the ones from that ride.
You do what ever is going to make your memories
the memories you want to have the rest of your
life and pizz on anyone else's opinion... [:'(]

It sounds like a great route to me. I worked for Florida State Parks for years and I can say they have some fine examples along the west coast. That's where I grew up. As far as tenting comfort, some parks such as Collier-Seminole have lots of mosquitoes and beach parks have sand gnats. It's just part of the environment. I've camped at both Cayo Costa and Collier and the insects are there. Whatever vehicle you decide to use at least you are doing something fun and seeing new territory.
