I think I've sold myself on the Shock Waves, but I'm still torn on the color. The only problem with the gloss black finish they have on them would be the possibility of getting swirls on my exhaust. I wouldn't have to worry about that with chrome or if it was a matte black finish.

be careful what you get for hand grips. I have not looked at the softtail line for 08 but the touring bikes have electronic throttle. not much for aftermarket on those yet.

I called the dealership and talked to one of the guys in parts and explained to him what the black exhaust from Martin Bros looked like and he said there's a chance they could wind up turning a brownish purplish color after a little while because of the high heat just like a lot of the black Rinehart tips do. That sold me on getting the chrome set. After doing quite a bit of searching, he finally found a place they can order them through and the pipes are gonna wind up costing about $100 less than if I ordered them myself. I'm pretty happy about that. So I'm gonna go ahead and order the chrome Martin Bros Shock Waves, SERT, and a lowering kit, have my Wimmer air cleaner put on, and get a dyno tune. I'm hopin' everything will be ready by next weekend so I can ride. Now I just need to come up with the rest of my list of parts so I can plan my next purchase. By Spring, my bike should look completely different. I'm suddenly not feeling quite as bad about getting a new bike now that the customizing is beginning.

Just talked to the guys in Service at the dealership and contrary to what my dad was told, the SERTs for the '08s are not out yet. I was told they should be out the end of the month. So I'm not gonna have all that stuff put on yet. I'll be on a bone stock bike for a little while.

Booooooo. I'm kinda disappointed about having to ride a quiet bike. This will be the first time I've had a bike with stock pipes. My Sportster and Deuce both had the pipes changed before I even took them home. Damn fuel injection! I'm already missin' the carb.
