Default Daytona '16...who's the experts?

Yeah, I know it's early...but after living out west for a gazillion years, I'm finally back east and close enough to consider a run to Daytona this spring. I went once, back around '80, and the whole trip is a foggy blur...

So I'm callin' on the local experts - if I can put together a run down in March, where's the best places to hang out, the best bars, the best places to stay, etc...you know, kinda like a Bike Week primer.

Appreciate any input y'all have.

Thanks!

I wouldn't call myself an expert but I go to daytona every year in march and october. Are you looking to camp or hotel. There is so much going on around daytona.

I've been the past two years. Definitely check out the Iron Horse Saloon and the Broken Spoke while you're out there. Also, Destination Daytona at Bruce Rossmeyer's HD has some cool events going on as well as events at the speedway.

Willie's tropical tattoo on US 1 in Holly Hill on Thursday bike show rat rods rockabilly music can't miss it for it will be a big crowd. Also small bar about 2 or 3 blocks toward Datyona on US 1 called Chrises has a statute of soldier out front. Local bar cheap drinks and more adult fun than you will see in the tourist places. Also cabbage patch on Wednesday.

Three of us planning on going from Columbia. Thinking about leaving 7th or 8th. I like taking SC3 to US 301. Planning on camping the exit off 95 just north of US 1. Maybe come back on the 12th.

Suggest you stay at the Cabbage Patch. Great bar. People camp all over the place. Simple to get to. I-95 to 249B. That puts you on 44 West. About 3 miles to county route 415; turn right. The New Smyrna Beach race track will be on your left. Go 2 miles and you're at Cabbage Patch. Follow it straight out on 415 (about 15 minutes) and you're in Daytona.

Look up Cabbage Patch on AOL. Place to be during Bike Week. Just a very short distance from Rossmeyers HD.

Actually I camp about 18 miles north of the speed way. One exit north of rossmeyers. I've been to the cabbage patch. It looks like rough camping. The campground I stay at has clean showers and restrooms and is pretty tame party wise with security on the gate. About 2 miles from the white eagle. On the north end of the loop.
