Yeah, I did NOT want that plate behind the belt, joining the engine & trans together. And I don't see the purpose of the outer covers. They don't do anything other than cover the clutch and the crank pulley, right? The outer cover is just mounted on the 4 standoffs between the crank & clutch, right? I'd rather see everything spinning around. The outer cover just keeps short guys from getting their feet tangled up in the belt at stop signs aaaaaahahahaha!!!
The backing plate is another story though. That plate really does stiffen things up - especially on a bike with a separate crankcase and transmission. On these TC bikes the engine and transmission are already bolted together though, so the plate is kinda redundant ... at least that's what I was thinking. Since I don't race this bike the extra strength that the plate provides isn't vital. Since Spencer's also built the S&S engine, they know how much power the thing makes. So initially that was their big concern - was I planning to drag race the bike or enter burnout contests every weekend??? No way. So they agreed to do it without a backing plate.

you still riding this Breakout? Lovin the rear fender mod and would like to do something similar.
Just wondering, since you lowered the fender itself, and it’s not swing arm mounted, are you rubbing the rear tire at all?
Seems impossible if you had any significant wheel travel.
