Alright. I proved to myself last night that I'm an idiot. I went to install that luggage rack, but I couldn't get my hand under the fender to reach the plug that needed to popped out. So I figured that the Softail fender would be designed like the fender on the new Sportsters with the ECM located on the fender with a hole that I could use to reach underneath. I then unbolted the EMC so I could reach under the fender that way, and I didn't know there was a bracket under the fender that the ECM was bolted onto. So of course, when I took the nuts off, the bracket fell. That's also when I realized that there wasn't a damn hole in the fender like I thought, and I remembered that I've seen a ton of fenders and I should have known this. Well, I called the Mrs out to see if her small hands could somehow reach under the fender enough to put that bracket back. We tried for about an hour and had no luck. So now my ECM is held on by just one bolt. It'll hold until I can get it to the shop and get it put back on. My wife then reached under the fender from behind and said, "You should have called me out earlier. I can reach the plug no problem." Then I really felt like a moron. So we started with the rest of the installation of the luggage rack, and after I marked where the holes needed to be drilled, I realized that the drill was too big to get a good angle. So if I would have just started the process with marking the holes and drilling, I would have realized right from the start that I wasn't going to be able to install the rack myself and I would have saved myself a lot of headache and humiliation for being a dumbass. So now I gotta take my bike in to have that little simple rack installed along with the bracket that fits under the fender for the ECM. Problem is, it actually snowed here in South Carolina last night so I won't be able to do it today. I might be able to get it in tomorrow, though. I was a little upset about everything last night, but today I can just laugh about it. So go ahead.... Get your laughs in. Call me a dumbass. I deserve it.

Not to worry, L2R. I made a mistake once. Thought I was wrong about something...turned out I was mistaken.

maddog,
Thanks for the pictures! That's exactly what I was wanting to see. Question.... Why do the bags look so much larger in the third picture than in the fourth picture? It looks like they hang down and cover the axle in the third picture and sit above the axle in the fourth.

I just ordered the HD "Detachable Leather Saddlebags" (part # 88238-07). I hope they fit pretty close to how yours do, and that the size difference is just in the width and height. You're bike is really lookin' good! Got anything else planned for it?

I just noticed that you have black mirrors on your bike. How I missed that, I don't know. What kind are they, and how do you like them? I was thinkin' about switchin' my Arlen Ness mirrors out at some point, and goin' with somethin' that would give me a little more view.

Yea, it was just the angle i was at. The mirrors are from A.N. there the flame mirrors, the view is ok, but i like them.
So have to look around more. The barebacks work really well. As far anything else, maybe the frt. wheel.
