I never expected that you would, but they will be good for referance anddifferent maybe even new ideas on what can be done, "IF" your wallet is thick enough.

...Also, does anyone have experience with the H-D Sport Windshield Kit for the Softail Custom p/n

I was looking at it because of the price, but i don't want to get a crapy windshield.
That is a good looking windshield and a very good price. I haven't seen that one before. It doesn't come up in the customizer to see how it looks on the bike. It looks like it's smaller than the other HD removeable ones, like the Windvest. Wonder how hard it is to remove. Couldn't find any info on it here. Maybe it's new.

I think for a 150 bucks I will just have to give it a shot. I think I'll pick it up this weekend. I'll take pics and give it the old review. I do like the look of the WindVest and that will be my next choice if this one is no good.
Thanks for the input.[sm=smiley20.gif]

Go for the WindVest option. I bought the HD Quick Detachable 'Sport' Screen for my Softail Custom and it looks pretty neat when fitted. The problem is the buffeting off the screen which will blur your vision above 65mph. I had the screen cut down by about 2 or 3 inches by a mechanic at my dealer and that reduced the buffeting considerably but did not get rid of it. I rode over 3000miles from England to Monte Carlo in the south of France last summer and I could sit at 80mph on the French autoroutes. Above that and the buffet came back. I have seen the fixed screen you are looking at and the mountings are pretty ugly and the screen is the same shape as my QD version.

All reports I have read from owners of the WindVest are positive and I'll be changing to one of them before my next big trip. It can also be removed in no time with minimal tools.

Hogdiver,
here is a link to a website I liked to check out back when I was thinking about a paint job for my sporty. I never used them but they have a good website for ideas. http://vividdragon.com

Although that sport windshield style is not on my FXSTC, I do have one very similar on my '99 Sportster, and I must say that for most any short to long trips, it's very usefull. I bought mine from from my local indy and it's a National Cycle deflector. 15" tall and same wideIt does take most of the wind off your torso. It hits me about two inches above my eyes. Very practical.

Well, after 4 hours of trying to install the windshield and never being able to get it to fit right, I gave up and returned it. I like what I've read in past posts about the windvest and that is the direction I'm going. thanks for the input everyone.

ROMIGULA I noticed you have the Ness 3" forward ext's could you please post some pics. I've been thinking of putting them on my 08 Custom. This picture was taken when I first got the bike. Since then I have added lots of "CUSTOM" things. Will try and get a better pic when the rest of the parts get here, which should be in a week or so.
