I've thought about getting a new tank panel, but I decided that if I get my bike painted, I'll just leave the panel off. Is there really a purpose for it?
There's an ugly weld seam that goes down the centerline that the panel covers. Probably cheaper to put the panel on there than it is to grind it down and finish off the tank top properly.
I have one of the chrome panels, its going on when everything gets put back together.

Here's a little tid-bit of info that I didn't know. I stopped off to pick up my new cables and lines from Magnum as they are located less than 20 miles from my house, no shipping.
When I got thereIwent into the reception area and there was one of those displays that you see in all the HD shops. You know the one with all the different styles of braided cables and lines, say's Harley Davidson on it.
Well guess who supplies HD with all of theaftermarket cables, fuel, and brake lines for the HD accessories catalog. Magnum!!!
Might be something to consider if your looking for new lines it might pay to check them out, might be cheaper to get them directly from Magnum under their numbers than it is from Harley.
I still have the HD Diamondback cables I ordered in the wrong lenght (for my new bars). So I'm going to compare the two and see if the Diamondbacks are any different from Magnums Sterling Chromite lines.
I'll see about posting a couple of pics later tonight, but I already like the Chromite clutch line better, its not half braid and half black. Its nice a nice looking braid for the full length, no black or rubber anywhere on it.

does anyone know if you can fit that yourself or is it a shop-job
Its a fairly easy job to do and shouldn't take more than half an hour.
But you do need to either take the connector apart that's under the tank on the left side. Or cut the wires and resolder then together.
If you have the manual its all spelled out in there. If not I strongly suggest you get one.

hogdiver,
Its really not that hard, bet its easier to do than replacing old broken pipes in even older houses.
I have an idea, I have my bike in a lot of pieces and have anew gauge to install in mine. Iwas planning to do it myselfwhen I got it to the point of putting the tank back on.
But if your not in a giant hurry andcan hold off taking your's to the dealer till the weekend. I'll do my best to do mine before Sunday night, take lots of pics and post them up here with some how to instructions for you and anyone else who's interested.
Probably save you a $100 or so in dealer labor charges that way. Sound like a deal or what?

Hey Hogdiver. I hate to try to spend more of your money, but have you looked into lowering the rear of your bike? You have it set up as a solo bike, so I'd drop that thing at least 1-1/2". That tire just looks like it needs to be tucked in the fender since you don't have anything above the fender. Just my opinion. Take it for what it's worth, and it ain't worth a lot.

Nice ride Dan, that rear setup kinda looks like the Rocker rear end, I have the 200 and it rides nice but my neighbor just got his Rocker C and he says the wide tire rides nice too.

Ride safe my friend...hey do you ride with the military bucket on yer head???

Thanks Bone, it's a Heartland USA 250 kit, really happy with it. I have not had any difficulty adjusting tothe "ride" with the 250,no real noticable difference from a 200.

To answer your question, as stylish and tempting as it may appear, I reserve wearing themilitary bucket for those special "going out" occasions toforeign lands, LOL.
