By keeping the stock 1" spring and adding the 2 new 1" springs you have affected it by 2". I can see this by the fact that I did what you did the first time. When I dropped my PVC in the top, it sat down in the tube, and my top cap spun right on. When I went back and did it again last weekend, I now had 1 " more spring in the bottom and my pvc stuck up almost an inch higher than my threads on the inside of the tubes.. This resulted in me having to "compress" to get the top cap to thread on. I think that is why your pvc is your damp adjustment. By shortening the pvc, letting everything relax a little more or become softer. Between the two set ups, I know my second set up is stiffer currently, my pvc is still at 3 3/4". I havent ridden with it yet, but can feel it by holding brake and flexing the front end. I did notice a ride height drop, but not a whole lot. Thats why I will be taking mine back apart to cut down the pvc a tad, in turn softening the front up a bit and letting the ride height settle a little more.

WTF?!?! I think we are talking about two different things here...Here is what I did step by step:
1. Raise bike off ground
2. remove front wheel
3. remove brake caliper from left fork
4. remove both forks from triple trees
5. put first fork in vise and remove cap on top.
5. pull long azz spring out
6. slide longer of two supplied springs in.
7. slide in shorter spring
8. drop in 1 supplied washer
9. add pvc pipe
10. drop in other washer
11. re-install fork cap.
12. repeat 1-11 for other fork
13. put forks back in bike and reassemble bike.

What am I missing here??

Dark - did you have a drop in progressive kit? I think this may be where the confusion is. That sounds easy as fv(k . . . I had to disassemble all the way down the the dampener in the base as well as draining all fluid. if you did not drain fluid, you have a different kit. The "3rd spring" goes in under the damp in the base on our kits

dark is yours the ez drop in kit or the cruise control one........the one twist is talking about is when you have to take the dampning tube out and add the two little 1 inch springs to it put back in and add the long spring that came with the kit

so then if my thinkin is right DB, when I pull back apart, since I have 3 under the damp and cut down the pvc a little, I should get a little more drop right??
