Just an FYI for anyone thinking about going to the Darkside and running a car tire. A friend on another forum put a 205/50R17 Sonar SX-1 on his and likes it. I'm gonna do it on my next rear tire change.

Only works with the 200mm rear.

Got any pics of this? Sounds interesting enough. I would think it would look square as hell though and wear quick with all the leaning and such. Please, shoot up some pics.

Best I can do is give you a link to check out the pics he has put up so far on the Darkside forum.

Link

I just wish this was doable with my EG. I hope to get up to 20k miles on it. Check out the rest of the forum for more info.

ya put up some pics

i would think you couldnt lean it very well goin around a curve since its so square. in a car you turn the wheel you dont lean a car hence the roundness of a tire on a bike to help you lean but i dont know

Looks pretty sweet from what I can see. I would love to see some far away shots, and some shots from the side. I really like this idea, since a car tire might last alot longer. Then again, it might wear faster, leaning it in curves all the time. Would like to talk to someone who has had one on their bike for awhile. Thanks for the link!!

Some interesting videos on YouTube. Wonder how difficult it would be to find someone to mount this setup. I would assume that most places would frown on this.

Finding someone to mount it does seem to be the one catch if a CT will fit.

Most people just mount it themselves but an Indy may do it or let you do it on their machine under their guidance.

You can do a search on this forum on 'car tire'. I've been talking with some folks over on another thread.

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...-harley-6.html

One guy just posted a pic with his CT on a Valkrie with 52k miles. I put way more miles on my EG than my Train. It would take me 10 years to put that many miles on my Train.

And a picture with me on the bike. I'm 6'2" and they put me at shoulder height.

I, personally don't like the way car tires look on bikes. But, I'm not downing any one for trying this at all. To each his/her own. I've just never understood why anyone would want to. This has been an ongoing arguement for many years.
Did any one else notice the ad on the Darkside forum, at the top of the page? There was an ad about the new 2010 Night Train.

Chop On,
Robert
