Just curious. How is he doing the seven degree rake?
Me too. Keep an eye on that trail number, you don't want the ride to suffer. If its 7* all the in the trees without raked cups or cutting the neck, I'd guess you'll have some issues. Especially if you plan on lowering the front.
There's a lot of numbers to consider before jumping on 7 degree trees. I understand the 23 will lift the front, but the 7 will drop it back down considerably. I know fork tube offset has a lot to do with rake and trail also. Check your numbers........ Be safe about it before trying to look cool!
Just for shitz, if I ever wanted to, could I do a 23 with the stock trees? I have the 2" under tubes and the progressive drop in. Total drop from stock is sitting at about 3.5" or so for the front. Rear is lowered pretty low on the HD bolts
Thanks for all the info. Doing 7* triple trees. I'll look at the trail before I have them put on.
Here's a quick and easy trail calculator. Spend lots of time planning this, not something you want to screw up. There was a thread just recently by KLF33 about his mods and 3* raked trees. Apparently that rake made the bike all kinds of squirrely. Just make sure all your numbers are good before pulling the trigger....

Yep 3 degrees, 21 wheel plus 3' shorter front meant death trap anywhere over 55 miles, now back to stock rake still around 3.5 degrees shorter and the death trap is gone a bit light still but not outright scary.
Situation was highly pronounced through my wild 1 bars as they are too wide and at speed the wind turn me into a sail and with me still struggling with the shotgun setup. If too soft the bike really Poios out of shape over bumps
I think a 23 wheel does increase your trail which could reverse the effects of 3 degrees rake or even 5 degree rake if you don't shorten your front end.
That's some funny **** there, Ash! Too bad nobody else gets it....... LOL!
I ran 3 degree trees on my '06 Train, not lowered in front, 120 tire, and rear air ride. No fears all the way from barely moving to 110mph.
