The Train goes in for the beginning of an overhaul tomorrow. Getting the tins painted and wheels powder coated. Just moved up to NC and I'll have plenty more time to ride now that I work normal hours again.
I went over paint choices for awhile and settled on Kona Blue. Its one of the colors that the new Ford Mustangs come in. Don't see many blue trains and I love the color. Should look good. Wheels are getting coated black. Dropping the stuff off before going out of town for a week and coming home to put it together again. I'll post before and after pictures of course.
Mmarm: Where do you work? I went to Shredd & Ragan, it was Jeep night. It was pretty cool, got a lot of pics I'll post in the am. Not much as far as bikes, but the guys that did make it out were all friendly and cool to talk to. Where'd you go?
Neck bearings do go if they're not adjusted or sitting correctly. It may just need tightening. Don't overdo it. Nothing to be afraid of as there's only a stem and some bearings. If you get in there make sure to lube it up good w axle greese.
Thnx - so if I tighten it snug but there is still a bit of play is that acceptable ?
or should there be no play at all = replace bearings
(forgive my ignorance if this is a stupid question lol)
No play mid. A proper front end sitting level, off the ground should hold where you turn it with only slight drag to turn it. Absolutely no wiggle jiggle.

I've had them in for about 13,000 miles and with the raked trees and the lowered front I figure they have probably taken a beating. Also throwing around the idea of going with 2 under tubes so the front end will be tore down anyways.
