Sounds like a great project cole, it's déjà vu aside from the twist clutch! Like I said, if you have any questions, ask away! I don't know very much, but I've fcuked up a lot so I can at least tell you what not to do.

Got the wheels back on the bike, it's slowly going back together. Just need to button up the wiring on the speedo bracket......

Hey fellas! If the guy shows up on Monday with the cash, I've sold my Iron!
Then I will buy the Night Train and have it delivered. It needs new tires though.
I have friends that can install them for me if I order the rubber online.
Do you guys have a source that you know is the best to get tires from?
And should I stick with the Dunlops or get something else?
Please help! I'm a bit excited about all of this but also a bit stressed (selling and buying big things). So give me a little relief. haha

Don't know the best place to buy, I usually just have my Indy order them for me. I would get anything BUT the dunflops. I personally like the metz me880. Worlds better than the dunflops.

Ok guys, how about some input. I've been reading a few bike magazines and am really digging some of the custom rides. Specifically a few where they don't paint the tins but just sand them up, buff and polish them. All the articles say that most guys then either just let them go to patina on their own or they use a wax on them like some hot rodders do.

It has me wanting to take my tank and rear fender off and sand them down to bare metal, polish them up and then see what happens!

Maybe winter has me thinking like a jackass but I think it'll look badass and it'll help distinguish me from all you guys haha.

Blind Rocket: I'm having my second set of Avons put on, highly recommend them.

Jake: Nope, you're not a jackass, just creative! The one thing I've learned over the years is what you see on custom bikes may not work on what we ride. I personally think what you're interested in doing CAN work, but it would take a lot of $ to work.

I am powder coating the trees, passenger pegs, and rear turn signals.

The bars are 12" todds cycle strip bars. They are already machined for the grip ace on the bars, but i do likenthe idea of putting it under the tank. I might do that on a different bar setup down the road.

IMO, that rat rod "I don't give a chit if it ain't shiny" look is absolutely badass! I have been toying with the idea myself for awhile now. I say go the route of letting it patina itself, or check some rat rod sites. From what ive read, there are ways to accelerate the patina and then clear coat it. The Junk Yard Train! Do it!
