Thumbs up Boot Guards for Half-moon footboards

I have also had the burnt rubber issue. I found another US manufacturer on the web. www.rockhardrail.com. I uses this heel guard. What I like about it is the quality, and the ease of mounting. It is very heavy steel. It does not vibrate loose and I have had it for about a year. Also, you do not have to drill holes in your footboard to mount it. You don't even have to take the footboard all the way off the bike to mount it. I am sure there are other good solutions, but this one is the one I prefer. Take a look at the website and see what you think. I also liked that they are also here in Colorado.

Default Chicago Crossbones

I've been lurking for years now. I don't post much, mostly read & try to learn from here. Recently traded in my '08 sporty. Loved it, but my wife loves to ride with, and wanted to be more comfortable, so this is where we ended up!

The bike came with a quick detachable windshield, passenger pillion, sissy bar, and saddlebags. So far, I've changed the seat (& the seat springs), Flanders Bad Boy style handlebars (changed the riser bushings to Gooden Tite while I was swapping handlebars), & Vance & Hines Slip-ons. At some point, I'd like to swap the front wheel for a 21" wheel, & lower it. In any case, I couldn't be happier with the ride!

Ride Safe!

Are those the saddlebags made for the Crossbones, or are they different?

Nice bike.

Default Spring mods..

Got my Xbones back from Pure Hell (Manassas, VA). They did a great job on the bike! New gloss black primary, gloss black side trans cover, RSD timing cover and derby cover, internally wired the lines and installed a cool switch for my aux lights. Since I have the "old school" horn in the front of the bike, they removed my stock horn and put the switch there. Looks really clean.

I would highly recommend Pure Hell for anyone looking to have any work done on their bike.

Next up... LED turnsignals and taillight and RSD or Covington's Rocker Covers.

Safe riding everyone!

Hokie, What windshield is that? I have the HD low profile quick detach and I want to change it to a fuller windshield. I like the size and black hardware on yours. Nice looking Scoot!

Edehn,

Thanks for the compliment! It's the detachable windshield sold by Harley. I got the compact one so I'm not sure if it will be as large as you need it. P/N - 58161-09

Nice bike.
Not sure if you're referring to mine, but yes, mine are the HD ones made for the Crossbones.

Thanks!

Default RSD Vintage bars on a Crossbones?

I want to put RSD Vintage bars on my 2008 Crossbones and noticed that RSD says that the bars are not for use with the Crossbones OEM risers. As it turns out the risers are too big and will not fit within the 7" crossbar. However the sales rep did say that RSD risers would fit. He went on to say that I may need new riser studs that convert fine thread (1/2x20) to course thread (1/2x13).

Here is the part the rep referenced:

- Options: Fine Thread 1/2-20 or Dual Thread 1/2-20 x 1/2-13(shown)
- Length: 2.5 inches
- Fits: Fine - 1/2-20 thread pitch Risers for springers; Dual - 1/2-13 thread pitch Risers for springers
- Finish: Steel or Black

The rep wasn't sure if the OEM studs had fine thread, but he says after-market springers do. I could always tear mine down and look for myself, but I thought I might save myself the aggravation by seeing if anyone here is running these bars and whether new riser studs were required.

Well I have had the Crossbones and it has been pretty much standard for the past 4 years with only the seat being changed until now
