What did you have to do to the bike to get them to fit? I'd like to have the larger bags as well and am planning to get the same pipes.

Here's a couple of pic's of my wife's 06 Deluxe with Wild1's 508's and bags from an FLSTS. She wanted the bigger bags in this style and it took some fabrication to get the saddlebag guards to fit with the V&H Big Shots Long, but it all worked out in the end.

Dave, talk to me about the back rest you have. I really want a cheaper option to replacing me seat---plus I've only had it two weeks and it hasn't broken in yet. I need to go back about an inch or two; but a back rest would also help some.
I think I remember you saying somewhere else that you got the idea from a Springer. What about comfort, back support, part numbers, etc. Anything you're willing to share would be appreciated. Does the bike look good with the pad off with just the chrome bar showing?

Brian:
The seat rail and pad is from a FLSTSC (Springer) don't know the part # off hand but it's in the catalog book or online HD website look under softail springer 2000 - 2003 it looks good with or without the pad.

I had to drill a new hole in the strut to accomadate the bolt mounting pattern of the bags. There is already a hole in the fender behind it and then all you need is the bracket on the inside of the fender that has two nuts on it instead of the one that comes on the deluxe with one nut on it. It's a standard harley part, I got it at the dealer-I think it was from an 03 FLSTS
The saddlebag guards will hit the pipes if they're mounted like they are supposed to mount, so I made a bracket that extends the lower mount back about two inches or so which raises the lower part of the bars just enough to clear the pipes. It really doesn't move them enough to notice unless you really compared two bikes with them mounted each way.
The bags may still be available through the dealer but we bought these off of Ebay in like new condition. We saw a bike at the Springfield mile last Sept. that had bags on it like these and she really liked them.

Thanks Steve - I may just go with the V&H Big Radius pipes which would leave plenty of room for the larger bags. I haven't heard them in person, but I love the sound on the website. I know I've seen these on a Deluxe, though the site doesn't list the FLSTN.

Actually I just looked at the Softails listed on the V&H site for the Big Radius pipes again.

They list FXSTN - there is no such Softail model!! I think it should be FLSTN instead. In which case, I'm very happy cause I really like the look and sound of these pipes!

Actually the bags weren't a problem with clearance, it was the guard rails that I had to move slightly. I don't know if the Big Shot Longs were listed as fitting the deluxe when we bought them, but I talked to V&H people and they told me they would fit.
