Ok, I'm confused why no one told me you have to drill holes in the rear fender to mount these, and also how does the ends mount since there's no light assemblies on the fender tips of the FLSTN like on the Heritage? Do they have to be drilled too? so are we talking 3 holes drilled on rear and one on front? I'm not too keen on that idea since this is a brand new bike. Also, I don't appreciate the misleading reply, deluxe1835, you could have mentioned all that, especially since you have these installed. I already ordered the front rail so now I am worried about having to drill holes.

Teflon - That is pretty much it.

Sweetie - the instructions tell you to drill a hole through the fender but I did not want to do that so I put a short bold through the inside of the strut cover and used an acorn nut on the outside for looks... Later when I had the fender off a fit a nut behind the strut and used a short fat headed bolt from the outside that matched the other Bolts in the strut cover better... There is always a way to make things work. And no you do not have to drill holes in the front tip, there is a tab on each rail for bolting on in the front and rear tips that I simply tucked under the fender and did nothing with. The two bolts on the shocks will hold it just fine. Not trying to mislead you... Just assumed you would be able to figure it out. Sorry

Thank you, Deluxe1835, that's exactly the kind of information I was looking for and I appreciate it. Your bike is extremely kewl looking. Are those the original fender tips/emblems or did you add those on?

Why did you need to drill? The piece is made of lightweight, chromed plastic and has sufficient flat inside surfaces to use 3M automotive tape, which has more than enough strength to adhere it.

It always amazes me that Harley can charge SO much for emblems made of plastic.

ok, I installed my emblem with double-sided 3M automotive tape. I love that stuff, use it all the time!! It aheres VERY well and eliminates need for drilling. Yes, I left the stock Deluxe trim on, just modified the center 'plastic' clip. Installed the nostalgic touring emblem just above the existing trim, I think it looks good this way.
