Whenever I ride solo, I use the Mustang Fender Bib (check my sig pic). Other than that, I left the plastic piece on and the fender bib and the passenger seat will cover it up.

Well, in retrospect, I wish I had left the plastic on and gotten a fender bib. I wonder if one can buy a replacement for that plastic? If I knew what I was doing I'd be dangerous.

I believe a local HD dealership may have them. I remember reading about it on this forums some time ago. Not sure of the cost....how much could it be? It's just a piece of plastic......well, if HD sells it.....maybe less than $10? LOL!!!

Throw a generous amount of wax on the fender where the plastic was. Maybe that will help protect it.

Thanks Brian. May I ask where you got your fender bib?

I ordered mine directly from Mustang http://www.mustangseats.com/softail/softail.shtml#j

J&P Cycles also has them http://www.jpcycles.com/productgroup...All&page=2

I went to my local HD dealership and got an allen-head bolt that matched the studs perfectly when installed. You can probably pick up the same bolt at a local hardware store. Just make sure it fits the existingmount on your fender and it's not too long that it will hit your rear tire under the fender....that would "blow"

Your first bike and you start off with Harley's finest (IMHO). Congrats. Don't drop it.
