Put on my chrome primary cover today. God it was frustrating. It was not my day. Everything came off fine, leaked a little oil, no biggy. Was able to reuse the gasket just put fresh oil on it to help it seal. My stupid *** leaves the cap off the quart of oil and kick it over. Normally would be quick enough to pick it up and not waste much. NOT TODAY! I didn't notice until it was all poured out onto the garage floor. Luckily I was able to go get another quart before the local shop closed (then get some kitty litter for the oil).

In the end, it all went together fine and looks good. I think I'm getting either an 18" spoked rear wheel or a bare bones solo soon. Dad forgot my brirthday and it's gonna be a late present. I hope it goes with the wheel though, it will make a bigger difference in the appearance on my bike. Plus it's a NICE deal and I'm not sure I'd get one like that again. Less than $200 bucks shipped for a 18x5,5 with a 200 Avon. Everything is new, it just was used for a mockup on a bike. I figure I can get a bare bones for $135 any day of the week and this wheel is too good to pass up. I'll post pics.

Freakin’ snow… Last weekend it was 24 degrees (75° F), and this weekend we get a foot of snow and will likely get another foot of before it’s over.

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum (though I have been lurking for a month or so), and a new Harley owner as well. I had several Japanese sport bikes, and then a bit of a family break, and about a month ago bought the Harley I always wanted. I'm in Australia where they still do the standard this year, and I bought an '08 FXST dealer demo (better than waiting six months or more!).

The dealer had already done several mods;

mini ape bars
reaper front wheel
smoke turn signals
LED tail light
ironside pegs and controls
Vance & Hines sideshot pipes and FuelPack
SE filter and billet aircleaner

Since owning the bike I've added;

Chrome engine kit
Chrome inner primary
Various Harley skull bits and pieces..mirrors, covers etc
flush mount fuel cap and guage

The next mod on the list is a reaper rear wheel to match the front, and then of course more chrome I'm very happy to have found the forums, and thanks for all the ideas and information I've already got. I've been having a fantastic time with the bike, with a very active bunch of friends and HOG chapter to go riding with, and even back and forth to the shops or work I still have a permanent grin.

Congrats on the new ride and welcome to the Hog club. Looks like you got a nice one with a great start there.

BTW That grin doesn't go away. It just gets bigger, so be careful of the bugs.

08FXST,
Are those bars Harley 10" mini ape bars also used on the FXSTC? Did you have to extend any wiring or cabling? I have the stock FXST handle bar setup which measures a riser height of about 4" and a bar height of about 6 1/2". So I was thinking if I go with a 1 or a 1 1/2" riser and 10" mini apes, I should be able to use my existing cables and wiring harness.
