My very first Harley and probably my favorite. The picture isn't that good, but it was taken in 1981. It was an old 1981 AMF Wide Glide. Modded and painted while stationed in Germany. Fond memories.
That bike was the cat's meow back then and it's still badass. I'm a Softail guy all the way, so I'm biased for sure. I bet you were the **** in Germany with such a wicked bike .. almost unobtainable to most Germans back then... I bet them blonde German girls liked it.... Man, wish I were there...
what is that carb,? Hard to tell in that photo... Del Orto? SU? Anyway, do you still have it? 1981 was good year for a shovel. I have a shovel I just started on Monday, a 1977 FXS 1200 with an old school color shifting flame job on top of a sapphire blue that almost looks black with indirect light on it. It's got old school billit wheels and controls and you can tell someone actually built that bike, not just bolted some stuff on, back in the day, and did it right... It's even has twin tech single fire ignition installed. Sweet. Might have to ride it awhile and show it off when I'm done... I like old bikes like that... I'll post pictures tomorrow when I get to the shop...
