why a fatboy vs. a fatboy lo and viceversa

For me, the difference was around $3000 when I bought my Lo. It was raffled off in a dream home lottery back when they first came out and the lady who won it, decided she wanted the cash instead of the Lo. Not before she had it stored in her garage for a month in the middle of winter though. The Lo was the last bike the salesman showed me, he figured I wouldn't like it because it was "used" with a total of 8km on the odometer. Ya, he got that one wrong and I had the first Lo in town.

In the UK, we don't have the "lo", but instead the fatboy "special", which has the same suspension set up as the regular fatboy and the differences are purely cosmetic.
I don't like the matt finish on the engine parts or the paint job. But I also don't like polishing chrome. I'm looking to (over time) swap out my chrome parts when the equivalent flstfb parts are gloss black (eg. fender strut covers, triple tree tins and headlight bucket, oil tank etc. But you can keep the matt finish parts.

Wasn't even looking for a bike but stopped by to maybe get a hat or tee shirt or something. There was a Wide Glide that caught my eye, but when I went home and looked at them on line I liked the looks of the Lo. Went back the next day and they had a Lo right behind the Dyna, as soon as I sat on it I knew it was mine. I really liked the black exhaust and satin finish better than the chrome.

Got the Fatboy Lo (a used 2011). I like the satin chrome, like feeling low in the saddle, original owner had installed the combo speedo/tach, and had mini-apes. (With they were black, not chrome.) The "white hot denim" fenders and tank appealed to me, too. Originally wanted laced wheels and narrow tires (the chopper look) not available on any Fat Boy, Lo or not. Originally leaning toward a Dyna Wide Glide. But like the ride of this bike.
Added bags and windshield and, later, LED daylight-run turn signals.
