Default are cams worth it?

i have to drop the bike off for the 1k service. i was thinking of just doing the cams, breather, exhaust and tune. but i don't want to spend the money on cams if they are not worth it.

also what is the average cost for installing cams?

Cams are worth it.
$250 for the cams, plus 2-3 hrs labor, I would guess is a good starting point.

Cams are the best single improvement you can make. Except on the newer bikes you have to buy a tuner to go with them which made them considerably more expensive. If you already have or plan on a tuner do the cams.

I just did cams on my stage 1 2013 deluxe. Absolutely worth every single penny. Amazed at the difference.

Yes they are very worth it!!!!

Kind of expensive..... Several hours labor (maybe 8) or you can buy adjustable pushrods and save 3 hrs labor.....
Parts and labor $1000-$1500 rough guess, + tuner

But I would not mess with SE cams... I did, and then went with a Wood's cam - much much stronger in every RPM

I did Andrew 48s on my 09 fatty , Best investment so far. Runs like a Different motor. Cant wait to do my 13. So answer your question Yes , Cams are worth it ,you should get it dynoed and tuned by a professional .That is very important.Cost depends If you have dealer do it all probably 2500 plus dollars with everything .( exhaust ,cams ,tuner ,dyno, air intake, your service and labor.

I have started out with the SE-255, I am currently looking into the T-Man 555 Torqster cam. From what I am told the valve overlap is longer and the valves open more allowing the engine to run cooler. I am not into speed, but I am all about that seat of the pants pull.
