Default Too much clutch cable on new slim

My new 2014 Slim seems to have 6 to 8 inches more cable than it needs. I had to zip tie it to the frame to keep it from rubbing the front fender. It also rubs up against the HD removable windshield I installed. Why is the cable so long?

Mine is like yours I had to zip tie it. I looked at the Slims on the showroom floor and they all were different on where they rubbed first, fender, and tank. Also a few appeared to have shorter cables.

I wonder if the dealers install the cable when they are uncrated.

The long cable is a sign to get taller bars!

Mines the same way, I think they do that so you can upgrade to pull back risers or street slammers without having to get new ones. What about Harley mini apes, do they work for those? Also is the clutch cable a tough replacement? I gotta believe they did that with upgrades in mind, but I'm not sure.

The hardest part about replacing the clutch cable is removing the transmission side cover which is blocked by the exhaust. Easy, just time consuming.

I used a Slim cable on my StreetBob when I put on hollywood bars with Joker pullback risers.
Could have been 1-2 inches shorter but not bad.
