Default Rush slip on installation

Have what might be a stupid question. Trying to install new rush slip ons on my 2013 Slim. Figured out (99% sure) which screws to loosen/remove, my problem is trying to get the screws off that sit behind the pipes. They are attached to a black piece of the frame. I can't get my socket wrench between the black part to the screws. The head of the wrench is too wide. Are there other socket wrenches that have smaller heads to fit in small spaces, or does Harley have to install them? Very frustrated.

Thanks!

Beth

I was able to remove mine with a flex head ratcheting combination wrench.

Ha! The dealer told me to use a socket wrench, didn't mention those wrenches. Been driving myself crazy! Thanks!

I am too impatient to wait til I have time to take it to the dealer, so I was trying to do it myself.

Put Screamin Eagle mufflers on my '13 Fat Boy Lo. Flex head ratcheting combo wrenchs helped make the job a snap. Got mine at Lowe's.

Funny as Retired Maintenance person of 38yrs,, I have a complete rolling chest, top and bottom and three other bench box's full of tools in the garage,,
And even with all those tools I still find something once in a while I don't have and need.

It never ends. A few weeks ago I was a a friends house and he was showing me his new cross force wrenches from Craftsman. Well I just had to get some because you never know when you might need a set of wrenches that you never had a need for.

Yes, definitely a flex head wrench is needed. That will be one of the most useful tools you'll buy when working in bikes. Get a quarter inch and half inch drive because you'll need it at some point. Also get a 6 or 8 inch extension for each one. Also, flex sockets come in handy.
