because they are easy to tune. give me about 20% better TQ across the sheet and easy on the motor, while cooling the oil temp and getting 3-4 more mpg..

Great TQ from 2,000 rpm's up in any gear.

S&S 583 Easy Start cams would give your 103 a nice power boost from 1500 to 5000rpms where you normally spend most of your riding time. The easy start feature goes easy on your starter and batter over the life of the bike as well. I sure like them in my bike and have been told by some of my 103 friends that have them they are a great fit in their bikes as well.

 

Like others have said, Andrews 48 is a great cam for the 103. It's in my winter build plans.

 

Still haven't decided on the cams to go with, but what about cam install tools? Anybody rent them?

I have been looking at the easy start cams because my motor tends to have starting issues when hot. Is there any documented failures with this type of cam?

 

When I first saw them, I thought these things are gonna fail and do some damage eventually. I have not seen any reports of that in here. And it's been a few years now.
The Heartland products cam tools on eBay are a great deal. Even come with inner cam bearings.
