Hey, just out of curiosity, do you know what is actually on the bike (nickel or chrome)? They dont seem to clean up like chrome, so just wondering..

Do you have a Tandy Leather store anywhere near you?
That would be the first place I would check.

Nickel plating has a slight "yellowish" cast to it, while chrome plating looks more "blue". Compare two known objects, one nickel plated and one chrome and the difference is easy to see.

Most spots I've seen have been nickel plated.
