See below:

He's referring to the black painted piece behind the headlight.

And sorry OP, I haven't seen pics with that removed.

Oh! lol. Haven't seen one either. I'm not going to tell you how long I tried to figure out what this was

I think the same question was posted in the last two weeks about a fatboy and there was a reply with a pic

I don't know if it looks like crap under it. But I believe there is a groove around the housing to affix the tin, so it looks weird without it. I believe you need that tin to hold the headlight in, also, but it's down in the garage so don't remember. Though I'm sure someone could get creative.

I think it would look like chit.
The headlight doesn't require the tins, as it bolts to a block on the lower tree.
But without them, you'd still have those fat beer cans to contend with.
That would look strange.

You would have to pull the tin and the beer cans to make it look decent

Than you'd have to add the rubber dust seals on top of your lower sliders as they're aren't any there now (on a Slim). The only thing keeping junk from accumulating there is the beer cans themselves.
I went ahead and added them on mine the second time I tore the front end down (for Progressives) since they were included in the H-D fork rebuild kits...

Oh, he meant the whole tin. I thought he just meant the chrome ring around the headlight. Didn't occur to me anyone would want to do that.

No. Don't do that, OP.
