Fatboy dies after starting
I have a friend that I ride with that owns a 2004 Fatboy. It starts just fine then shortly after the throttle body appears to overload and dies. It has been to one Harley shop already and they could find no codes nor could they fix the problem after two weeks. He took it to another person who works on Harleys and after three weeks, he could not get it to run. He has changed the plugs and wires, there are no codes, the throttle cables have been changed. The gas tank has been drained and all is in tack in the tank and the tank was clean. He wants to take it to another stealer tomorrow but if you have any thoughts or know of a good Harley mechanic in the Nashville, TN area, please speak up.

Ok, i have a possibility for you...a good friend had an 07 that started running like crap on a trip, doing similar to yours. Went to mcdermotts hd in fort anne, ny. The bike had been at our local so called hd service multiple times with no results except them trying to blame it on his after market wires, which he repaced with his stock ones...did not help..
The bike was in their professional shop for twenty minutes till they found it and ten minutes to fix it, like a brand new bike...
They found that his bikes ecm or computer was missing four upgrades that had been available for years and our previous service dept. had never checked...multiple times...
The bike ran like it was new since then...i had them check mine...same thing, multiple ecm firmware upgrades available but never checked or updated...
Not kidding, thats all his problem was...need to be done by an hd dealer since they plug it into their system to do it. Another buddy checked his...same thing, missing upgrades...well worth checking...his was doing what yours is doing...only cost 65 bucks...good luck.
