All you need is a Doctor's slip and it should be legit.

I'm always open to trading doctor's slips for parts lol!

BoneCrusher, those velcro supports are not very comfortable for sitting. Is there a style that works when seated? I have the lower back problem.

Hawg, are you talking about the ones with the rigid curved rods inside or just a regular velcro one?

That's the problem with a lot of these lumbar supports, they are not designed for people who sit the whole time they wear them. A lot of them ride up your back and not only are uncomfortable but don't help your lumbar spine. There are some nylon based supports that work OK. You need one with two or three straps that you can tighten from bottom to top to keep it snug without over tightening. Look for one with straps that have a buckle so you can cinch it a little more than the ones where all you do is wrap a velcro strap around your back. I'll see what I can come up with from my suppliers next week when I'm back in the office for you guys.

I had a discectomy (L5/S1...lowest one in your back...)in Mar of '05, and spent that entire summer on the couch. (Actually near ended up in a wheelchair...didn't think I'd ever be able to walk again, let alone ride again...) Fortunately last summer I was able to get back in the saddle again. My back, again fortunately, is stable, but I ended up with mild spinal cord damage. I'm good on short runs, or city riding, but on longer hauls I found the 'slouch factor' was causing my back to lock up. (Mom's reminders to sit up straight only hold so much weight! LOL) I got myself a gel seat & arider's backrest...I could care less about 'macho'. I'm riding. However my back still bugged me on longer hauls, even with all this. I finally tried (out of desperation, to be honest...) my old Weider weight belt. Voila! Kept me from slouching on longer rides, and the backaches all but disappeared. Not the intended purpose of the weight belt, but it worked for me. It is worth trying. If not, perhaps you can try a back belt from Home Depot, or whatever. Good luck...
