Default Starter sticking

Hey guys, I'm looking for a little help.... So I dropped the bike off for a service today from a local indy, he calls me up and sais the bike has a horrible sound coming from it. I figured the compansator came loose, as I just had it replaced, but after starting it again he realizes that it's the starter sticking. He said that on a few tries the starter button wouldn't do anything at all. Does this sound more like a switch problem to you guys, or the starter itself? Also, does anyone know if the starter switch is serviceable? Thanks.

I know when my starter clutch went out it start to turn the engine over but then it sounded like a bunch of gears had broken loose and were just tearing it self apart. It would always engage but just wouldn't stay engaged to start the bike. I do understand though that it can cause the starter not to engage at all.
