RE: Fat boys and engine guards?
I also prefer the looks of the Fat Boy without engine guards, but they sure would come in handy if your bike fell overwhile it was stopped or it slipped out from under you at a slow speed.
I would think they would save a lot of chrome and paint and make it easier to lift the bike back up.
I was interested in the Kurakyn Ergo Guards, that have optional running light brackets, but read where my SE floor boards would be in the way, so they wouldn't work.

RE: Fat boys and engine guards?
I had that very hesitation with the Lindby. I want to split the stinking LA / SoCaltraffic otherwise might as well be in a cage w/ the rest of them. I put the Ergo Guard on last night will need to give it a good test ride soon. I commute and I use a metric cruiser also. The Ergo is just about as wide as the floorboards. But then the pegs flip out and BAMM...for when I don't really care to pass / split.
I will post a pic soon.

Not crazy about the look of them but I like the ones on mine. They have a distinct look to them and don't take away from the bikes look much. The highway pegs fold out if you want to stretch out.
