Default 14" apes-they get squirrelly ?

Those who ride with apes, any upsides or down sides of a 14" Ape on a bike. For example is there less control at 60-70 mph meaning do that get a bit squirrlley at any certain speeds. Me being a bit tall I was considering the upgrade for comfort purposes or are they less comfortable for taller riders. Thanks in advance.

I recently put 14" apes on my bike, and aside from very slow speeds while turning (like pulling out of my driveway), they're far better than my Streetslammers were. Very comfortable for me and I feel like I handle better in the corners at speed. Although, it's true what they say..once you hit about 75 mph you do turn a bit in to a parachute. But no squirrleyness or anything, just nice

I ride with 14" apes on my SG and really like them. It took me a few weeks to get use to the slow speed stuff, but I am now able to lock out the bars turning slow. No problems at all with the handling of the bike at freeway speeds. The only downside for me is my hands are now above my fairing and can get pretty cold during the winter months. Besides that, I dig the bars!!

I have 14" as well and like what is said above slow speed maneuvers took a bit getting used to. But on the road they handle great. Sgt Jim mentioned the parachute effect at 75 mph. I get it now and then but hey once you hit 80-90 mph the wind blowing over the headlight and front end starts to go over your head and you don't feel your being pushed back as much.

+1 on the 16" apes.. no issues at all, and I cam from drag bars.

I have 14" on the NT. Comfortable and all out better control IMO. Pay attention to the width of the bars you are looking at. I wouldn't go for anything over 32", but that's me. I through a handlebar bag on to help alleviate the "parachute" effect at high speeds. It also is nice having a little extra storage for longer rides.

No problem at all. If something is squirelly, it is from the suspension, not the bars. So they should be absolutely fine.
