Default Stage 1 - How many miles you need to install it?

Ok, some say yes & some say no. You tell me because I'm new to Harley's so is there a recommended mileage break in before going stage 1 with a tune on a Brand new bike. The Slim currently has 330 miles on it.. The dealer wanted to slap everything on at 20 miles off the floor. I have the xtra coin to do it now as oppose to then, so whats the verdict ? Do I need to wait till I hit 1000 miles ? Thanks forum members.

you can go from 0 miles. It won't matter at all. if the bike is new just be easy the first 1000 miles no-matter if stock or stage one.

My stage one was done when bought.

Had mine done before I took delivery, had 7 miles on it. Never even saw my bike without the stage 1 and pipes.

Do it now. Make it like you want it. I did my bike at 400 miles because I wanted to do it myself and I had 400 on it before all the parts shipped to me. Like others have said you can get a stage 1 with 0 miles.

In the time you spent asking the question you should have already done it

You can do anything at any time, but if dealer has to tune on a dyno, it is not a good idea to "abuse" the the motor until after the break in period.

I think you have your answer.

No need to wait. Like the others, I had my stage I done before I took delivery.

i bought my bike and rode it for a bit while i was deciding on which parts i wanted for a stage 1..by the time i got around to it there was about 500 miles on the bike. They say it really should be left stock for a break-in period to make sure the motor by itself doesn't have any hiccups.. but it's your bike, you do what you want with it
