Hey fellow bikers, I have a 2005 softail deluxe that i just bought not to long ago. it has vance and hines long shots and a dynojet power commander 3 installed also. I noticed since i bought the bike that when i start the bike it coughs and sometimes spits and a puff of smoke out the air filter. its a fuel injected bike by the way. Do you guys think its a power commander problem or something else? I thought about taking out the whole power commander and returning it back to stock but would i have to change my pipes also if i want to do that?

 

Check your primary chain tension. My bike was doing the same thing and after making the primary chain adjustment it only does it once in a great while.

 

I would start by getting a new tune for the PC. After trying the new tune, if you still have the same issue, then I would contact Dynojet.
