Default LePera Bare Bones & My Softail Deluxe

I plan to call LePera tomorrow and order a custom Bare Bones seat for my '05 Deluxe. I've read many reviews here on the forum about the Bare Bones...it seems that some people love them and others can't get rid of them quickly enough. I'm 5'11" and actually find the stock Deluxe seat to be a bit uncomfortable for me. I feel a little too close to the tank, and the seat seems to put pressure on my tailbone. For whatever reason such an upright riding position doesn't work for me...I feel like I need to sit "into" the bike a little more in order to be comfortable.

It's an interesting dilemma because on one hand the Bare Bones is probably the best looking seat I've seen on a Deluxe (especially since I'm going for an older-school look with the diamond stitch pattern). On the other hand, comfort is very important. Much of my riding is under a couple hours round-trip, so I'm hoping to strike a balance between comfort and looks with the Bare Bones...we'll see how it goes.

Please feel free to add your two-cents for those of you have (or have had) the Bare Bones on your Deluxe. All constructive feedback is appreciated.

You'll be good for about an hour before you're wanting a cushion for your plank.

You will be fine (a lot of it comes down to the shape of your *** and your "whine level")

I love the Bare Bones seat, but after 75-80 miles its another story. For me anyway.

Exactly no problem with bare bones here. Came from riding a rigid for 6 years.
Riding on a caddy now.

Your tailbone is still gonna hurt with a LaPera. Cool comes at a cost.

Was thinking about getting the gel, but I've heard it's really only a benefit on longer rides.
