Synthetic Oil Choice
I have a fairly new, 2006 Heritage Classic I bought back in November. I have 2500 miles on it now and am looking to go synthetic all around for my crankcase, transmission and chaincase.
I am torn between going with HD's synthetic and Amsoil.
I know this must have been already covered in length here somewhere, but is there really a difference as to what brand to choose?
Thanks,
Jeff

RE: Synthetic Oil Choice
IMO, it doesn't matter what oil you use as long as it is one that is spec'ed for the hole you are putting it in and you change it when it needs changed.
I doubt if very few people will ever wear out a properly serviced engine, regardless of what brand was put in it.

RE: Synthetic Oil Choice
I am trying to decide which oil to go with b/c my 5000 mile service is approaching. I have a post going in the Oil forum with some good info.
Seems the top 3 choices are Amsoil, Mobile1, or Redline. I am leaning towards mobile1 or Amsoil due to availability.
Probably will run the following:
Mobile 1 20w50 in engine, Mobile 1 Gear Oil 75w90 in tranny, HD Formula + in primary or
Amsoil MCV in engine, Amsoil Severe Gear in tranny; Formula + in primary.
