Top 3 synthetics are probabally Amsoil, Mobile 1, and Redline.
But not in that order: Synthetics are rated by the quality of the base stock used to make them. the highest number being the best.

Group 1
Group 2
Group 3-- Mobile 1
Group 4-- Amsoil
Group 5-- Redline

If you do some research, you will find that Group 1 through 3 are not TRUE synthetics, they are dyno oils with additives that allow the manufacturer to call them syn's. Group4 &5 are the only true synthetics because they start with synthetic base stock.

I'm approaching my 15k service on my 05 Heritage.
I do my own oil changes and I use...

[ul][*]Engine: Royal Purple 20/50[*]Primary: Royal Purple 10w/40[*]Trans: Redline Heavy Shockproof[/ul]
My scoot always runs/shifts great.

Just my 2 cents...

I use xtra virgin olive oil lol.It dont matter wut oil you use you still have to drain and replace it all engines displace moisture so dont matter syn or regular oil.My dealer told me to put wut came in it and change it regular atintervals syn will break down with moisture anyway. As far as heat if my bike gets that hot wich it hasent ill pull right into the closest watering hole and get a bottle of suds at stare at my ride and blow it kisses wile it cools down lol

TIM, Would you post the info/link on this test? I would like to see which oils were in the competition.

Thanks,

Im having my 5000, service done on Thur. tha 5th. I requested Amsoil for the engine and my provider says they useBelray for the other holes. Don't know what the advantage of mixing is. I hear Amsoil allows the engine to run cooler. They say they've had happy riders using this method. Any suggestions? I have 2 days

i'm running amsoil sever gear in the trany. I think it smooths out the shifting a little, might just be me. I will say that on my trip to bike week, my oil ran between 5 and8 degrees cooler than harleys syn3 (previous oil in bike before I researched amsoil)and the days temps were in the 50's' and 60's. Should improve as days get hotter.
